Francesco Tonini is a GIS developer and applied statistician with a passion for data science and geospatial modeling. His cross-disciplinary background includes statistics, GIS, data analytics, computer programming, and geospatial modeling.

Francesco holds a Ph.D. in GIS/geomatics from the University of Florida. He also holds a M.S. in Statistics for Biomedicine, the Environment, and Technology from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” (Italy), and a B.S. in Statistics and Information Systems from the University of Florence (Italy).

Over the years, Francesco has had the opportunity to lead and coordinate teams and projects, while always having an underlying motivation to learn and constantly grow his technical skills. He is a self-driven and dynamic professional with experience in fields such as applied statistics, GIS, information technology, web development, and geospatial modeling. He is eager to use the knowledge acquired over the years to work in either the private or public sector.

He is proficient in several statistical software (R, SPSS, SAS) and GIS/remote sensing software (ArcGIS, GRASS GIS, QGIS, ERDAS). He is proficient in programming languages such as Python and R, web development (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript), and familiar with C#, C/C++, VBA for ArcObjects. Finally, he has good experience with version control tools such as Git and Bitbucket and cloud technologies such as Amazon Web Services (EC2, ELB, S3).
